Universe: A Villanelle

every universe is a parallel universe

that nobody will ever see

the cosmos is my soul’s hearse

like a dying star, my fibers disperse

am I somewhere out there, looking for me?

every universe is a parallel universe

left among scattered earths

We lay down under a blooming dogwood tree

the cosmos is my soul’s hearse

Fate and I, we are star-crossed lovers

with separate galaxies as our only fee

every universe is a parallel universe

my grave is a celestial uterus

Death is my other lives’ key

the cosmos is my soul’s hearse

Our paths will never traverse

a lonely prophecy

every universe is a parallel universe

the cosmos is my soul’s hearse
